nov 4; maison de balzac and the wine museum

By lesypr

a bottle of wine on top of a parking garage in balzac’s neighborhood

balzac’s house is free and not especially interesting inside. it does however have a most wonderful garden & exterior area, as well as an amiable museum staff..

after this was an uncomfortable room of busts.

everyone in paris was incredibly kind except for the people in the wine museum.
and i don’t know why, as their wine really isn’t especially good. the man who presented my wine went to great trouble explaining all the reasons why it was so special, but it tasted very much like cheap wine to me. visiting local wineries since my youth and now working at a place in its centre which promotes the very thing might mean my tastes are partial, but i was not in the least impressed.

beyond the rudeness, this museum is fairly boring and has some creepy wax figures. its also, if i remember correctly, the most expensive museum i visited on the entire trip. i should have went to le bon marché, or the triangle of gold instead!
